State and County Seek Projects to Bolster Behavioral Health
SHASTA COUNTY – The Health and Human Services Agency is pleased to share the state’s request for proposals on projects that would meet local behavioral health needs, including treatment beds, community sites and supportive housing for veterans and others.
Additionally, Shasta County HHSA is interested in partnering with local agencies in the development and implementation of a receiving home for children/youth in our dependency system of care. The home would provide youth substance-use treatment, support and behavioral health services. Shasta County HHSA staff plan to share a request for information (RFI) soon.
Part of the recently passed Proposition 1 is Assembly Bill 531, the Behavioral Health Infrastructure Bond Act of 2024. Assembly Bill 531 authorizes $6.4 billion in bonds to finance behavioral health treatment needs.
Recently, the state Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) opened the first round of funding, titled “Bond Behavioral Health Continuum Infrastructure Program (BHCIP), Round 1: Launch Ready.” Through this first round, DHCS will award up to $3.3 billion statewide.
Eligible applicants for “Bond BHCIP Round 1: Launch Ready” include counties, cities, tribal entities, such as self-determination (638) organizations and urban clinics, nonprofit organizations, and for-profit organizations whose projects will reflect the state’s priorities.
The application period will close at 5 p.m. Dec. 13, 2024.
Those interested in applying may visit Behavioral Health Infrastructure Bond Act of 2024 - BHCIP (buildingcalhhs.com).
