The Shasta County Board Chambers will be temporarily closed during April and May as the County undertakes a comprehensive upgrade of its audiovisual system. During this period, all Board of Supervisors meetings will be relocated to the City of Shasta Lake’s City Council Chambers, located at 4488 Red Bluff Street, Shasta Lake City, CA.
This project marks a significant modernization effort, replacing a system that is over 20 years old with state-of-the-art technology to enhance accessibility, visibility, and sound quality for both in-person attendees and online viewers. While the structure of the Board Chambers will remain mostly the same, nearly every technological component is being replaced and improved to bring the facility up to modern standards.
Key improvements include:
• New Video Wall: The outdated projection system will be removed and replaced with a brighter, high-resolution video wall that improves visibility from all seating areas.
• Enhanced Audio System: The microphones, speakers, assisted listening devices, and volume controls will be upgraded to improve sound clarity and accessibility.
• Improved Camera and Streaming Technology: Enhancements to camera functionality and streaming platform will provide an improved experience for remote viewers.
The County’s IT Department, in collaboration with contracted vendors, is working toward completing the project in time for the May 27, 2025, Board of Supervisors meeting. However, the reopening timeline will depend on the successful installation and testing of the new system.
Shasta County appreciates the public’s patience during this transition and will provide updates as the project progresses. The 2025 Board of Supervisors meeting calendar can be accessed at https://www.shastacounty.gov/media/65066.
