The CEO Spotlight: Celebrating the Holiday Season in Shasta County
As we embrace the festive spirit of December, I am filled with gratitude and pride in the vibrant community we have here in Shasta County. The holiday season is a time to come together, celebrate, and reflect on the values that make our community strong—compassion, generosity, and unity. This month’s activities have been a testament to that spirit.
Celebrating the Season Together
This holiday season, Shasta County has truly shone bright. Our communities have hosted memorable events, including tree lightings and festive parades. These gatherings brought joy to our residents and highlighted the unique charm of our cities. It’s heartwarming to see families and neighbors coming together to share in the magic of the holidays.
For those still looking to partake in the holiday cheer, there’s much more to enjoy. The Redding Garden of Lights offers a spectacular display that captures the wonder of the season. For outdoor enthusiasts, a trip east toward Mt. Lassen or Mt. Shasta for sledding and winter recreation is a must. Let’s not forget to support our local businesses as we shop for gifts and celebrate with loved ones. Every purchase contributes to the vitality of our local economy and strengthens our community bonds.
Supporting Those in Need
While the holidays are a time of joy for many, it is also an important time to remember those who may be facing challenges. I want to thank our community for their generosity during the Shasta County Child Support Services’ coat drive. Your donations of new winter coats will keep many children warm this season—a simple yet profound act of kindness that exemplifies the spirit of giving.
If you are looking for additional ways to make a difference, the Good News Rescue Mission is offering meaningful opportunities to give and serve. This year, they are collecting donations to provide gift cards for individuals waking up at the mission on Christmas morning. For those with no other place to go or loved ones to spend the day with, this gesture offers a touch of dignity and joy during a challenging time. I encourage everyone to consider supporting this heartfelt initiative and learn more at gnrm.org.
Looking Ahead
As we prepare to close out another year, I want to extend my deepest gratitude to each of you for making Shasta County a truly special place. Your dedication to our community, whether through acts of service, participation in local events, or simply being a good neighbor, makes a lasting impact. I feel incredibly blessed to serve as the Shasta County Executive Officer and to call this beautiful region my home.
On behalf of the entire Shasta County team, I wish you and your loved ones a safe and joyful holiday season. May the new year bring health, happiness, and continued success to all.
Warm regards,
David J. Rickert
Shasta County Executive Officer
