The Fountain Wind Project is a proposed wind energy facility that would place up to 48 wind turbines in the Montgomery Creek/Round Mountain area of Shasta County. Rejected twice by Shasta County, Fountain Wind is now trying to supersede local ordinances by seeking state approval for the project through the California Energy Commission (CEC).
Negative Impacts Include:
- Significant impacts to a wide range of tribal cultural resources of the Pit River Tribe and other local tribes
- Elevated wildfire risks in a designated very high fire hazard severity zone
- Impediments to aerial firefighting
- Endangerment to wildlife
- Ignores local County ordinances
Voice your opposition to the Fountain Wind Project by submitting your comments to the docket log and/or sending your letters to the California Energy Commission (CEC) and Governor Gavin Newsom.
