Summer has officially arrived at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area! Following weeks of dedicated maintenance and improvement efforts by National Park Service staff, all three of Whiskeytown Lake’s designated swim beaches—Brandy Creek Beach, Oak Bottom Beach, and East Beach—are now open to the public for the 2025 season.

To get ready for summer visitors, crews placed and groomed fresh sand across the beaches, painted picnic tables, pressure washed restrooms and improved the shoreline slope at East Beach to make water access more gradual and family friendly.

These annual efforts ensure that Whiskeytown continues to be a premier destination for swimming, picnicking, and enjoying the scenic beauty of Shasta County. Visitors are encouraged to be safe, follow posted beach rules, and help preserve the cleanliness and family-friendly atmosphere of the area.

Important reminders:

  • No alcohol or dogs are allowed on swim beaches.

  • Most other areas of the park remain dog friendly and permit responsible alcohol use.

Whether you’re planning a family outing or just a peaceful day by the water, Whiskeytown’s swim beaches are ready to welcome you. Enjoy the season!
