Shasta County Celebrates Recovery Month

Recovery Month Proclamation Group

September marks National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate individuals who have triumphed over substance use challenges and to promote the resources that support them. At the recent Board of Supervisors meeting, Shasta County officially proclaimed September as Recovery Month. In a powerful moment, several courageous women shared their personal stories of recovery, underscoring the importance of community support and access to treatment.

Recovery Month is dedicated to raising awareness of substance use and mental health disorders and the available pathways to recovery. This month serves as a reminder that recovery is possible for anyone, with the right resources and support.

To further this mission, Shasta County will host a free, family-friendly event on Saturday, September 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lake Redding Park Pavilion and Gazebo. Attendees can enjoy live music, food, carnival snacks, and inspiring testimonials from those in recovery. A resource fair will also be available, providing valuable information on treatment options and local support services.

For more information on recovery resources, visit the Shasta County Health and Human Services website: Substance Use Treatment Resources. Additional details about the upcoming event can be found here: Recovery Happens 2024.

Shasta County is proud to stand in solidarity with those on their recovery journey and encourages all residents to take part in this uplifting event.
