Air Quality Reports

From May 1 through October 31, Redding's Record Searchlight newspaper publishes the daily Air Quality Index (AQI) in the Weather Section. Other ambient air quality questions can be answered through the District office with archived and real time data and trends by calling (530) 225-5674.

The California Clean Air Act of 1988 requires the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to assess which regions in the state contribute air pollutants to downwind areas and cause those downwind areas to exceed state air quality standards.
