2025 California Building Standards Code

California has adopted the new building codes which go into effect January 1, 2026.

Every three years, the State adopts new building model codes to establish uniform standards for construction and maintenance.  Changes to the model code affect all new building permit applications submitted on or after January 1st, 2026.  The 2025 Triennial Edition of Title 24 can be located for viewing on the California Building Standards Commission website.

Summary documents are available from various sources online that outline changes in the 2025 California Building Standards Code.  The Building Standards Commission has developed a website with a summary of California amendments in the 2025 edition of Title 24 and a pdf is available for download at the link below.
