2022 Employee of the Year

Stacey Hughes, Shasta County 2022 Employee of the Year

Stacey Hughes has been named Shasta County's 2022 Employee of the Year! Stacey is an Mental Health Clinician I with Shasta County Health and Human Services.

Her passion and drive to help families is what makes her an excellent public servant. She models poise and positivity in the face of challenges, and elevates those around her by doing so.

As a facilitator of the Families Living in Transformational Environments (FLITE) Ms. Hughes respectfully engages with parents as she identifies partners who could support the parent and achieve reunification. When parents are not active in the program and reunification with the child is at risk, she is able to find the right words to have hard conversations with parents around how their behavior was delaying reunification. This respectful and compassionate behavior is core to who Ms. Hughes is with clients and colleagues.

In an effort to further build her clinical competence, Ms. Hughes transferred roles from serving the Early Onset of Psychosis and 0-5 populations to assessing those youth actively seeking mental health service. Her goal is to advance her clinical assessment skills, diagnosing, and linking youth to services. This past year Ms. Hughes reorganized the Children's Access Team and kept her focus on improving outcomes for children and families, as well as the work environment of her co-workers. Her willingness to improve outcomes not only for children and families but the overall work environment of her colleagues is a great leadership quality.

"I love my job, I love what I do every day, for almost 13 years now, and I can't imagine doing anything else besides working with the most vulnerable children in our community. It is my passion." Said Hughes, "I cannot thank my colleagues and our leadership enough for the continued support and encouragement we have for each other.  This means so much to me, but really this is a win for our entire team, who together make it such a welcoming and safe place for families to come to and receive support."

In her 4 years working in mental health Stacey has provided over 1100 assessments to children and families, 1600 therapy services, 944  collateral services to individuals connected to her clients, and over 179 crisis services.  Thank you Stacey for all of your hard work and commitment to serving families in our community, your recognition is well deserved and we are lucky as a County to have you.
