Family Self-Sufficiency Program

The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) program is designed to help you build a more stable financial future. When you are getting rental assistance, any time your income goes up or down your share of rent adjusts accordingly. The benefit of FSS is when your rent share goes up because of earned income, HUD will deposit money into a savings account on your behalf. At the end of the program, if you have met all of your goals, you get a check for the balance of the savings account.

Am I eligible for the FSS program?

If you are currently getting rental assistance through our office, are age eighteen or older, and willing to work, yes!

Will I lose my housing if I join?

No. If you are still income eligible and in compliance with your family obligations you will still get rental assistance.

How do I apply?

You may apply online by clicking here. Or you may contact our office for a paper copy to be mailed to you.
