Wells

The Shasta County Environmental Health Division’s water well program was developed to protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the public and the environment, by ensuring that ground water, which many residents in the county depend on for drinking water, will not be polluted or contaminated.

This program is enforced through a system of permits and inspections. Permits are required for construction, destruction (abandonment), deepening, and repairs of all wells in the County and the three cities. Work shall be performed by a C-57 licensed driller/contractor. Drillers are held to California Water Well Standards set forth by the California Department of Water Resources.
