When is a Transportation Permit required?

A transportation permit is required for all loads that exceed 80,000 pounds or exceed any of the legal load dimensions.

Legal Load Dimensions:

• Maximum Width                                                  8'-6"
• Maximum length                                               75'-0"
• Maximum length for single vehicle        40'-0"

How long is a Transportation Permit valid?

Annual Transportation Permits are valid for one year. For single-trip transportation permits, the applicant may request a period of up to 10 days.

How much does a Transportation Permit cost?

Annual Transportation permits cost $85. Single-trip transportation permits cost $15.

How do I apply for a Transportation Permit?

Blank Transportation Permit applications are linked below. Email the completed annual or single-trip transportation permit to ShastaCoTransportationPermits@shastacounty.gov.

Blank Permits may also be obtained at from the Shasta County Department of Public Works, 1855 Placer Street, Redding, CA 96001 on weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Simple permits may be processed on the same day they are submitted.
