The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to provide the citizens of Shasta County with Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE), the California State Victim Notification service. It is a free and anonymous service providing victims of crime with automated notification by phone, email or TTY whenever the custody status of an offender changes.
Victims can register for notification in two ways. Using a touch-tone phone, victims can call the VINE toll-free phone number and register for automated phone notification. Using the internet, victims can register for phone and/or email notification.
To register for notification you must know the offenders last name or identification number, provide your contact information and select a 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN). A change in custody status will generate automated notifications to the phone or email provided. Calls will continue until your PIN# is entered in response to the automated call or for 48 hours from the time of first notification. Information is updated in near-real-time from our local booking system to the VINE databases every 15 minutes.
In addition to registration services, victim resource information is also available both through the website and by calling the toll-free number. VINE provides 24-hour/365 days-a-year live operator assistance in English and Spanish languages.
This service is intended to supplement your safety plan. Do not depend solely on the VINE service or any other single program for your protection. In an emergency situation, call 911; for non-emergencies, please call (530) 245-6540.
VINE Toll-Free Phone Number: 1-877-411-5588 (TTY: 1-866-847-1298)
