Syringe Services Program (SSP)

Syringe Services Programs (SSPs) help keep our community healthy. They offer various services, such as:

• Access to and disposal of unused syringes
• Injection equipment
• Vaccination and testing
• Linkage to substance use disorder treatment.
• Linkage to other health care needs.

SSPs help keep the public and first responders safe. They assist in disposing of used needles and syringes. They also offer testing, counseling, and unused injection supplies. This support helps prevent disease outbreaks.

More than thirty years of research have shown that SSPs are safe and effective. 

• They save our community money.
• Do not raise illegal drug use or crime.
• Help lower the spread of STIs, HIV, hepatitis, and other infections.
