Put on your best smile! A healthy smile makes for happy children, and happy adults too. Brushing twice a day, combined with flossing once a day, can help you to have a nice smile and can benefit your overall health and wellbeing. Fluoride
Fluoride plays a big part of maintaining a healthy smile. Fluoride provides a layer of protection that makes the teeth more resistant to bad acids that causes decay and cavities. Dentists say that children should brush with the recommended amount of fluoride toothpaste suggested for their age, get fluoride treatments, and talk to their dentist about the importance of fluoride. Read the "Why Children Need Fluoride" in Supporting Documents below for more information on how fluoride protects teeth.
Learn how fluoride protects teeth on the American Dental Association's website.
Many communities have fluoride in their drinking water. There is no fluoride in Shasta County's drinking water. When fluoride is put into the community water supply, it is regulated to be the correct amount that is needed to protect teeth. Learn more about water fluoridation.
