Healthy brain tips

There are things you can do to reduce your risk of Alzheimer's and related dementias. You can reduce your risk with the 10 "Care For Your Brain" tips, which include:

  1.  Exercising for at least 2.5 hours a week at a moderate intensity (you are breaking a sweat).
  2. Adapt a healthy diet, such as the Mediterranean Diet.
  3. Keep learning. Take a class for fun, at places such as a local community college.
  4.  Socialize and continue to connect with friends and family.
  5. Get sleep, at least 7 to 9 hours a night.
  6. Acknowledge your mental health and seek treatment if needed.
  7. Challenge your brain by learning a new skill.
  8. Create healthy habits by quitting smoking and reducing alcohol consumption
  9. Protect your head by wearing a seat belt and using a helmet for recreation.
  10. Love your heart by reducing high blood pressure and preventing diabetes
