Women's Connect to Wellness and Recovery
Women's Connect to Wellness and Recovery is aimed at reducing the number of babies being exposed to substances during pregnancies in Shasta County by reaching out to all women of child-bearing age.
Our resource pages offer a list of community resources to help women, providers, or concerned family members or friends. They can find support available in the community with explanations of the services each resource provides, the easiest way to access their services, and links to their webpages (if available).
We also provide links to information about family planning methods and protection from sexually transmitted infections. Life is stressful enough. Getting informed and making good choices can help women stay healthy now and in the future.

Maternal Depression
When a family welcomes a new child into the world, it's supposed to be a time of happiness. Yet for many new mothers, maternal depression dampens this joy and can damage their ability to bond with their young child. Post-partum depression and depression during pregnancy are common, but they often go undiagnosed.
Public Health recently expanded its Healthy Babies Program to include early mental health efforts (funded by First 5 Shasta), which will help screen women for maternal depression and help them get the resources they need. For more information about this program, call 225-5850 or call (800) 300-5122.
